“North To Alaska” -Leadville, CO
I have spent some time living in Alaska and there is no shortage of old trucks. Something about that place has permeated my blood stream and I can’t shake the desire to go back. I long for vast expanses of open roads, hanging glaciers and icy blue bays filled with salmon seiners.  Fireweed, lupine, and rain forests call out to me in sleep and I dream to  go back as soon as possible.  Sometimes, a place can really make your heart ache.

“Roll away the dew”
Patterns in nature have always fascinated me; I find tessellations to be magical.  Plants posses such amazing symmetry and there is so much beauty that surrounds us everyday.  Sometimes, you just need to slow down and check it out.

Snapped this photo on my morning run yesterday. Took this with the hipstamatic, but the sky isn’t enhanced, that’s how blue it is here.

Sometimes after the flood all the colors come out.  In this case, it was before the flood.  Snapped this photo from the welcome center at the Garden of The Gods, in Colorado Springs.  I took a two hour drive all the way down there because I love the weird town of Manitou Springs, and as soon as I got there the skies opened up!

I traveled to Abiqui, New Mexico in hopes of finding breath taking landscapes and fiery red sunsets- the ones I have dreamt about since I was a little girl growing up in Albuquerque.  What I found on this cloudy day in northern NM was a tiny pueblo town half full of tumble-down pueblo homes and Native Americans who were still trying to hold on to their land, scraping by making a living in this remote village.  I was immediately thrilled with the large number of vacant homes and the lack of inhabitants to enforce our  careful tiptoeing through the wreckage of past lives.

Vacancy.  Moab, UT
One my birthday several years ago, I packed up my car and headed solo into the desert to get away from life for awhile.  I turned off my phone and headed into the great expanses of the wild west to watch the sunset on the red rocked horizon.  On the drive to Canyonlands National Park, I encountered this lonely building.  It immediately spoke to me and I couldn’t help myself from veering off the highway to get the shot.  It was well worth the pit stop.

“Grandview- Evening Sesh.” Encinitas, CA
I once moved to California because I had always dreamed of doing so.  I drove through the coastal town of Encinitas in Northern San Diego when I was seventeen, and I fell in love.  I knew some day, I just HAD to move there.  I was determined.  Ten years later, I packed up all my belongings and drove west through the desert all the way until I reached the ocean.  Its funny how things look so very different from far away.
